Advanced Production Evaluation
This picture is from the All American Rejects video, the one below is of Bob Dylan. with the version in our video.

For the sections where we had the woman on the floor we laid her on a white blanket after writing the lyrics on her. This hid the carpet underneath and made it look similar to videos where they also have solid white backgrounds. To give the allusion that the woman was naked we simply covered certain parts of her body with a black blanket. As well as this we scattered the postcards that were held by members of the public on the blanket around her. Choosing an already established band to play and act out our live performance scenes we asked them to wear clothes that they would wear at a gig, this gave an authentic feel to the video when coupled with the set, props and the music as it all linked to the genre of the original band.
These are shots from our video. They range from long to mid shots and close-ups. the top picture is of the drummer and the kit, we used shots like these to show that the band can play the instruments and for artist links between sections. below that is the singer, we used shots of him because the fans want to feel close to the leader of the band. The third is of the body writing and post card sections in the video this was to help show the message of the song. During editing we used our skills to cut scenes together in a way that mirrored that of real indie pop/rock videos already out on the market. We decided only to use straight cuts as the song was to fast a pace to have fades or any other transitions. On a couple of scenes were you see a band member dancing, we applied an effect called ‘cartoon’ this slightly blurred and softened the footage which complimented the comical and fun side of the video. Also at the beginning and end of the video we included animation, we did this by cutting together still photos at a speed when played gave the impression that it was a moving image these were affective parts of the video. We split our music video approximately sixty percent performance, forty percent narrative. We did this because researching music videos of the same genre we came to the conclusion that there was a similar ratio. The narrative of the video helped to emphasise the words in the song as we had the lyrics written on the body of a woman, this made the message of body image the focal point of the song. We had the live performance so that the audience could see the band play.
This is our music advert and CD front cover.
Media pop theorists who influenced our work include; Steve Archer, he believes that there must be a strong link between narrative and the performance; in our video the sections of live performance are emphasised by the images of the narrative sections, the narrative sections also exemplifies the lyrics. The narrative sections are also closely linked to John Stewart's theory that there are visual references to things like art photography; in our video being the images at the start that create a moving image animation. He also believed that a music video must contain close ups and needs to focus on the band members especially the lead singer which we have tried to do. Laura Mulvey's the third theorist that we took influence from, thought that as film makers are predominantly male, the presence of women are solely for display and for male attention. We chose to have a woman in our music video in this way however we wanted to use a female body in a more sophisticated manner to show the message about body image and that the media’s portrayal isn’t entirely true.

Stereo Decade Magazine Advert
We have gone for a minimalist approach to our magazine advert, after looking at genuine adverts in magazines such as NME and Smash Hits we discovered that written information was kept to a minimum with only essential information displayed. Such as the band name, release dates, reviews and tour dates. The image we have used was taken by me which I then edited on Photoshop to make the guitar the only thing visible in the photo. The lettering we took from a website called dafont.com. We chose three different yet similar types of fonts because it helped to break up the advert and only having the band name in colour helps to draw attention to it. The name of the band is also visible on the guitar. We have also displayed the record label in the corner as this was typically visible on adverts that we looked at. After drafting three different magazine adverts we developed this one because it was more typical of the genre of music that we were creating the video for.

Album Cover Development
Below are some font ideas that we could include on our album cover or within the digipak. Stacking the band name like the one below or scattering them to look like stickers could be a page in the album along with the single vinyl picture.

Album Ideas

Album Idea 1
Very simple design with an old record disc on a grey background
in the centre there is an orange arrow with the name of the band
"Stereo Decade" on it. This design is modern and matches the indie
genre.

Album Idea 2
This design is more of a retro style. The name of the band is
seen below a large stereo. Again the design is simple but would
stand out to an audience.

Album Idea 3
This album cover style is more of a traditional one. It shows
the band, their name and more colour. This matches other
albums of the same genre.

Ideas Feedback
Idea 1
- They liked the combination of live and narrative.
- The way that we would use close ups on the "members" of the band so that their identity isn't shown was a positive as this meant it doesn't matter who we use.
- During live performance we decided to have close ups so that the audience believes that the instruments are being played professionally.
Idea 2
- The class like the way we would include postcard sized notes held by people saying a thing about them self.
Idea 3
- Idea three was the most controversial. However they still liked the idea, but thought that we could only have close ups of the body and no full length naked shots.
Conclusion
We were told that we should include elements of all three as the second and third ideas couldn't hold up as a video on their own. So that including those two with the first would make a good music video.

Idea 3

•There will be writing on her body the words will be negative. Or we can put write the lyrics on her.
•In between these shots there will be shots of the band performing.
•Close to the end of the video we get the same shots of her body but with positive words on her. This corresponds to the lyrics “ Don’t be ashamed of your body”
